I have been struggling with the cover of this book. I always thought it would be the most fun and the easiest part of the whole thing. I was wrong. While there was an element of fun in it, I found it to be nearly impossible to do. What font to use? What color? How should everything be arranged? And the cover for an ebook must be readable when shrunk down to the tiny image you see on Amazon.

The original design I thought weak, particularly the font. I redesigned it with the sort of misty look with the faded skull in the background, but don’t think it’s interesting enough. I am about to release the book in print, and I need a very compelling cover that works for that medium, as well for electronic media.
So I decided to do some purely graphic covers, which I think work better. I like the retro look. But they
still don’t quite do it for me. The solution? I hired a graphic designer named M. S. Corley, who is affordable and experienced in making book covers. He did a very interesting redesign of the Harry Potter covers just to see what he could do, and has a wonderful design for Frankenstein.
